Harry Potter's Life

Harry Potter, full name Harry James Potter, was born on July 31, 1980, in Godric's Hollow, England. He was born just a few hours after his future classmate Neville Longbottom, a detail that's crucial to the story due to a prophecy that foretold a boy born on this exact date would have the power to defeat the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort. Harry was born into a loving family, to his mother Lily J. Potter (née Lily Evans), who came from a Muggle family, and his father James Potter, who was raised in a family of wizards. Harry's mother, Lily, had a sister named Petunia, Harry's aunt, who did not receive her acceptance letter, making Lily the only witch in the Evans family.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans, and Harry did not grow up with his biological family for long. When Harry was a year and 3 months old, the Dark Lord Voldemort attempted to kill him to nullify the prophecy. During the attack in Godric's Hollow, Voldemort first killed Harry's father, James Potter, then proceeded to Harry's room, where his mother, Lily, was with him. Lily sacrificed her life to save Harry, so when Voldemort turned his wand on Harry after killing Lily and uttered the deadly Avada Kedavra curse, Harry survived, and the curse rebounded on Voldemort, nearly destroying him. The only mark left from the attempt on Harry's life was the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. This failed attempt to kill Harry and Voldemort's fall ended the First Wizarding War, and Harry became known as "The Boy Who Lived", as he was the only one to have ever survived the deadly curse.

After the death of Harry's parents, Rubeus Hagrid, who would later become a close friend, took him on a magical motorcycle to his aunt and uncle, Petunia and Vernon Dursley. The Dursleys are Muggles (non-magical people), and their affection for Harry was hard to find. Vernon and Petunia have a son, Dudley, Harry's cousin. Harry and Dudley never got along, as Dudley often bullied Harry and was favored by his parents. Harry had countless arguments and even ran away from the Dursleys several times during his time with them.

Harry the Wizard

Around Harry's 11th birthday, strange things began happening in the Dursley household. Strange occurrences were quite common around Harry, which is typical for wizard babies and children (for example, his hair magically grew back overnight after his aunt angrily cut it almost to the scalp). A few days before Harry's 11th birthday, the Dursleys took him to the zoo, where he spoke to a snake for the first time in his life and, unknowingly, used magic to remove the glass from its enclosure, setting the snake free. Later, letters addressed to Harry started arriving at the Dursleys' home at 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey (Czech translation: Zobí ulice 4, Kvikálkov). These letters were acceptance letters to Hogwarts for Harry, which the Dursleys refused to give him, even going so far as to move to a deserted island to escape the magical world. However, they couldn't escape for long, as Rubeus Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts, arrived to collect Harry and take him to the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

For the first time, Harry learned from Hagrid that he was a wizard, about his parents, and about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hagrid took Harry to Diagon Alley, where they visited Gringotts Wizarding Bank, the bookstore Flourish and Blotts, Madame Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Honeydukes, and Ollivanders, where Harry bought his wand. He learned that his wand core was the same as his rival Lord Voldemort's—both contained a phoenix feather. Hagrid also bought Harry his owl, Hedwig, who remained his loyal companion throughout his time at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter at Hogwarts

Harry started attending Hogwarts in September 1991. On the Hogwarts Express, he met his best friend Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, forming an inseparable trio throughout the series. During the Sorting Ceremony, the Sorting Hat placed Harry in Gryffindor, even though it initially wanted to put him in Slytherin. Gryffindor was also home to Harry's friends Fred and George Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnegan, and later Ginny Weasley, Percy Weasley, Lee Jordan, Oliver Wood, and others. The head of Gryffindor House was the strict but fair Minerva McGonagall. Harry soon showed great talent in flying on a broomstick and became the youngest Seeker in a century for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He later became the team's captain and helped Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup. Harry's favorite subject was Defense Against the Dark Arts, where he excelled. On the other hand, he and Ron hated Potions class, taught by Severus Snape (brilliantly portrayed in the films by Alan Rickman).

During his time at Hogwarts, Harry frequently faced death and fought against the forces of evil. He often had to confront Lord Voldemort and survive. In the first book, *The Philosopher's Stone*, Harry, Ron, and Hermione save the Philosopher's Stone (a stone that grants immortality) from Lord Voldemort, preventing his return to power. Voldemort's attacks increased as he regained strength and power, eventually reassembling his Death Eaters and starting the Second Wizarding War. Harry learns the secret of Voldemort's Horcruxes and, along with Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, seeks to find and destroy them.

The Duel Between Harry and Voldemort

Voldemort's attacks culminated on May 2, 1998, during the so-called Battle of Hogwarts. This date is also known as International Harry Potter Day. In the brutal battle between good and evil, many of Harry's friends died, including Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks, and many others. During the battle, Harry realizes that a part of Voldemort's soul is imprinted on him. He decides to surrender to Voldemort and let himself be killed. However, Voldemort only destroyed the part of his soul that was hidden within Harry. The last Horcrux, Voldemort's snake Nagini, was killed by Neville Longbottom with Godric Gryffindor's sword. Nothing then stood in the way of the final magical duel between Harry and Voldemort, which is depicted differently in the book and the movie. However, Harry ultimately wins and kills Lord Voldemort once and for all (though not with a killing curse), ending the Second Wizarding War.

After the war and the fall of Lord Voldemort, Harry marries Ron's sister, Ginny Weasley, and they have three children together: James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, and Lily Luna Potter. Harry becomes an Auror and, together with Ron, tracks down the remaining Death Eaters and dark wizards. Later, he becomes head of the Auror Department and even serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He remains active in the magical world and has made a name for himself as a brave and just person who never turns his back on his loved ones.

Whether you're a Gryffindor at heart or you belong to another house, Harry's legacy in the wizarding world is undeniable. Even after the end of his story, he continues to inspire witches, wizards, and Muggles alike with his bravery, kindness, and unwavering commitment to doing what's right.

Harry Potter Characteristics

The main characteristic of Harry Potter is undoubtedly his courage. Courage is also the main trait of all Gryffindors, so he certainly belonged in his house. Another well-known character trait of Harry is his loyalty, both to his friends and to authorities such as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid, and others. Harry is generally cheerful and curious, and he excels in most of his studies at Hogwarts, except for a few subjects, and has no problems with his grades. However, he can also be cheeky and stubborn, which has led him and his friends into many troubles.

Harry Potter Lego

The popular Danish company Lego has been creating globally popular sets on various themes for several decades. So it is no surprise that one of the themes became Lego Harry Potter. Both young and old wizards can now build almost anything from the world of Harry Potter's magic. Harry himself is no exception!
