The Sorting Hat decides
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first-years in the Great Hall are greeted by an unremarkable old hat - patched, frayed and extremely dirty. Professor McGonagall places it on a stool, the hat sings its song and then sends the students, one by one, to their house tables. Harry silently repeats "not Slytherin" and the hat finally puts him in Gryffindor. The Sorting Hat once belonged to Godric Gryffindor himself, and it never explains its decisions.
Sorting Hat party hats bring that moment to your celebration. Their distinctive brown shape and print are instantly recognisable to every fan, and the size is just right for both children and adults. At Hogwarts there is only one hat - at your party, every guest gets one, and the sorting can go on all afternoon.
What's in the pack
- 6 paper hats - Sorting Hat shape, 11 × 16 cm
- 6 blister packs of house stickers - every guest chooses their house
- Glue dots - for easy assembly
- Brown with print - just like the hat in the books and films
The hats arrive flat and are assembled with the glue dots. You can leave the assembly to your guests - it makes a nice opening activity, with everyone preparing their own hat and sticking on their house.
A house sorting game for the party
With the house stickers, the hats are a ready-made game idea to get any Harry Potter birthday party going. The birthday child or an adult plays the Sorting Hat, places a hat on each guest's head and announces their house out loud - Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. The sticker on the hat reminds everyone all day who they are playing for, and the teams are ready for the quiz, treasure hunt and the competition for the House Cup.
The hats are perfect for children's birthdays, school and after-school club events, and grown-up fan parties too. Six in a pack is enough for a smaller group; for a bigger party, simply get more packs. In the photos, all your guests will look like a freshly sorted year of Hogwarts students.
