Dobby is a free elf
Dobby the house-elf served the Malfoy family until Harry freed him with a clever trick. He slipped his own sock into Tom Riddle's diary and handed it back to Lucius Malfoy. Lucius threw the sock aside and Dobby caught it - and because his master had given him clothing, he was suddenly free. Ever since, he has worn socks with pride and called himself a free elf.
The story began with a book wrapped around a sock, which is why a notebook suits Dobby so well. It belongs to your thoughts, plans and ideas and to no one else - just as Dobby finally belonged only to himself.
Dobby returned later in the darkest hour: he rescued Harry, Ron, Hermione and other friends from the cellar of Malfoy Manor and paid for it with his life. His grave near Shell Cottage bears an inscription saying that here lies Dobby, a free elf. For many fans, a notebook bearing his likeness is a small tribute to the character.
Key Features
- A5 format (14.8 × 21 cm) - fits in a rucksack or handbag
- 96 sheets (192 pages) of 100 gsm paper
- Dotted pages designed for this notebook - for writing, drawing and bullet journalling
- Hardback soft-touch cover with rounded corners

Thick 100 gsm paper shows through less than ordinary office paper, so you can write on both sides. The dotted grid gives you freedom: it works for lines of text, tables, lists and quick sketches.
The glued binding with hard covers lets the notebook open comfortably so you can write right up to the spine. The soft-touch finish feels pleasant in the hand and makes the notebook look premium at first glance.
For school, work and gifting
The notebook suits lecture notes, work, weekly planning or a diary. The inner pocket holds tickets, receipts or admission stubs, the elastic keeps the covers shut in your bag and the fabric bookmark takes you back to the page you were writing.
As a gift it is a safe choice for anyone who loves Dobby: the pen is included, so you can give the notebook ready to write in. It suits birthdays, the start of the school year and Christmas.
The notebook is thick enough for a whole school year or several months of work notes. If you keep a bullet journal, you will appreciate the dotted grid for calendars, habit trackers and lists - and Dobby on the cover will remind you every day that small joys matter.
