The cake Hagrid brought to the rock
Harry had just turned eleven when, at midnight, someone broke down the door of the hut on the rock in the middle of the sea where the Dursleys had fled from the Hogwarts letters. In the doorway stood the giant Rubeus Hagrid holding a box - and inside it was the first birthday cake Harry had ever been given.
In the film the cake is pink, with the message piped in green icing in true Hagrid style: “Happee Birthdae Harry”. Hagrid even apologises that he might have sat on it at some point. That misspelt, slightly wonky message decorates this mug, and with it one of the warmest moments of the whole saga.
For Harry it was a turning point: in a single night he learnt that he was a wizard, that Hogwarts was waiting for him and that someone in the world truly cared about him. The cake with its spelling mistakes has stood for that moment ever since - the beginning of everything magical.
