The sweets Harry bought on the train
Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans turn up on the very first journey to Hogwarts, bought from the trolley witch somewhere between King's Cross and the castle. Ron explains the catch to Harry straight away: every flavour means every flavour, and the list runs from chocolate and peppermint through to spinach, liver and tripe.
Dumbledore avoids them entirely. He tells Harry he lost his taste for them as a young man after a bean that turned out to be earwax, and in the last book he is unlucky enough to find another. The colour of a bean gives nothing away - the same shade can be cherry or rotten egg, which is the whole point of eating them in company.
The twenty flavours
- Twenty flavours: banana, black pepper, blueberry, booger, candyfloss, cherry, cinnamon, dirt, earthworm, earwax, grass, green apple, rotten egg, sausage, lemon, soap, tutti frutti, vomit, watermelon and marshmallow
- 54 g in a bag
- Colour is no guide to flavour
- Made by Jelly Belly
- Officially licensed Wizarding World™ product
A 54 g bag is a sensible share for two or three people, which is the right way to eat them: everyone takes one at the same time and nobody admits what they got until it is too late.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many flavours are there?
Twenty, according to the manufacturer - everything from cherry, cinnamon and candyfloss to earwax, soap, rotten egg and earthworm.
Can you tell the flavour from the colour?
No, and that is deliberate. The same shade can be cherry or rotten egg, which is why the beans are best eaten in company.
Where do the beans come from in the books?
Harry buys them from the trolley witch on his first journey on the Hogwarts Express, and Ron warns him that every flavour really does mean every flavour.
Do they contain allergens?
The product contains no major allergens, but it is made in a facility that also processes milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts and nuts. The full ingredient list is given above.
How big is the bag?
The bag holds 54 g, which is enough for two or three people to share rather than a single portion.
Why buy Bertie Bott's beans at Svetkouzel.com?
We stock the beans in several pack sizes, from a pocket bag to a gift box, so the same sweets work as a stocking filler or as a present. We aim to dispatch your order within 24 hours.
